Anniversaries

What month do you think is the most popular month for weddings?

How do you use your anniversary to pause and appreciate your marriage?

Our Experience

I thought the most popular wedding month had to be June, but in the last few years June has fallen to second.

So, what is the most popular month for weddings? October.

Perhaps that’s a sign of global warning. I have officiated some hot weddings in June.

Libby and I wanted to get married the first weekend of June, but a friend who was going to be in my wedding had already chosen that weekend. So we got married the last weekend in May.

Fifty-two years this past Monday.

Since it was Memorial Day, we were too lazy to make much of it. Libby bought a chocolate pie at Wegman’s and we sat and ate it on our screen porch.

We did think about it and talk about it a bit. Our kids and other family members sent us nice texts.

Our thoughts followed this path:

  1. Thankfulness that we are not the same people as we were then. At least me. What an immature, self-occupied knucklehead I was. But God blessed me anyway with Libby Lineberger.

  2. Thankfulness for our children, their spouses and our grandchildren. They are incredible gifts to us.

  3. Thankfulness for our parents, brothers and sisters. They have always loved us.

  4. Thankfulness for our incredible friends. We have always enjoyed remarkable people around us.

  5. Thankfulness for each other. Daily we are learning to live out of that gratitude.

  6. Thankfulness for our history together, a story of God’s faithfulness through adventure, opportunities, challenges and heartaches.

  7. Thankfulness for our future together. Like a fine wine, our marriage becomes richer with age.

I aspire to be the best decision Libby ever made.

When is your anniversary?
